Numb, Hollow Feeling (a poem)

It’s a numb feeling
Something hollow
When you know there’s no hope for the country
No chance for a better tomorrow

What will we do?
I’m not quite sure
What will happen next?
Only God knows for sure

Our land is forsaken
No country for old men
The decay rotting the core
We’re all on our own

Prayers are not answered
And neither are thoughts
We limp into an uncertain future
And the present keeps getting worse

Is it foolish to hope?
Maybe so, maybe not
I hope an afterlife is better than this
The numb, hollow feeling
Of a country disintegrating
