On the Road to Tennessee (a poem)

On the road to Tennessee
Driving the highway for miles
Listening to music, feeling carefree
Rachel and I are all smiles

We’re surrounded by mountains
Driving through Shenandoah Valley
We stop in Knoxville’s downtown
The road trip makes us happy

We get Mexican food for lunch
Our puppy sleeps in the backseat
The rest of the drive is a cinch
Our doggie enjoys his treats

We arrive in Rachel’s hometown
A reunion with her parents
Road trips are the best, hands down
To us, that’s very much apparent

Author’s Note: Rachel and I are currently in Tennessee (her home state) visiting her family, and it’s been a great time so far. We decided to drive down from Philly, rather than fly, and I really enjoyed it. Who doesn’t like a good road trip?

I’m going to try to share some more pictures of our trip – mostly ones she’s taken lol. I’ve had to work on the trip, but working remotely is cool like that. I feel like a digital nomad! No fancy adventures for this trip – just going out to eat at some of her favorite old haunts and watching movies with her mom and dad.

Thanks, Dave! Hope the weather up in the Northeast isn’t too bad for you. I’ve seen pictures of Philly and it looks wild

Thankfully, we fared well here in Maryland. A tree fell across a street close to me, but didn’t hit any people or cars. From the news, other people north of us weren’t as lucky.
