    Murakami is one of those writers whose stories cast a spell over me when I read them or hear the audio version. And his stories make me want to work harder in writing, to try to grasp a fraction of the kind of storytelling that he accomplishes. He’s amazing.

      Indeed! I read that he didn’t even begin writing fiction in earnest until his early 30s, so it makes it even more amazing. I think he may just be one of those rare talents. I like him most because he’s like a modern-day Kakfa to me, or at least combines many Kafkaesque themes.
