Alt-Psalm #3 (a poem)

how awesome is the LORD Most High?

we shower Him with praise

thinking of halcyon days

while preparing for

a new heaven on earth

but what is a new heaven really

but a new consciousness

attained through surrender

to your steadfast love?

we pray & pray

then become one with you,

O LORD, & we become

new men and women

astounded by the ways

you bring peace to our hearts

& descend to the

darkest of dark depths

to shine eternal light

that redeems us all

Author’s Note: The first line of this poem is taken from Psalm 47 from the New International Version of the Holy Bible. I’ve been reading the Psalms again, and my idea was to use lines from them as a poetry prompt to create “Alternative Psalms” applied to the 21st century world.
